Three Raven Brothers

Strong as love, sharp as hate,
given to ones doomed by Fate,
no one me will reverse,
here am I, the ancient curse!

With me threatened their mother stern
but in their hearts was no concern.

Among murder, lust and other sins,
disrespect is surely not the least.

For mother's words they did not even care,
for that my doomed mark they will bear.

For every sin only punishment is earn,
And mother's curse to raven them will turn!

Now they will see what they will have to bear,
when I change to feathers their golden hair!

Now they will find out what bad behavior brings,
From their strong arms I will shape wings!

Even if this dark fate no one should ever seek,
with pleasure I will turn mouths to howling beaks!

Ravens at day, men only at night,
With regret and tears doomed will be your flight!

Ravens, once men that had black heart
from mother and sister you I shall depart!

From wooden cottage to crystal halls of those wingers,
my presence always will fearfully linger!

And if for forgiveness they to hope for dare,
they shall know what their sister would have to bear;
seven years of silence is only for hardcore,
that sacrifice from gentle maiden no one should ask for!

But if that fairless road ever even begins,
without fight I shall not fall or hand my throne!
When I'm in the battle behind me only dust remains
where once was blood, flash and bone!

Seven years of silence

Yeah, I know.. Poem's not stunning at all, but I wanted to try...

For the round 1 of "Team dArt Showdown" timberclipse.deviantart.com/jo… , with the topic "Change".

We are a Slavic team ( , and from Slovakia, and (me) from Montenegro), so we decided to interpret the theme through Slavic folklore. Pavel Dobšinský was the most famous fairy-tale collector in the Slovakia, and this fairy-tale, called "The Tree Raven Brothers" is from his collection. It is similar to Andersen's Wild Swans: there are three brothers, turned to ravens, and their sister who has to free them by seven years of not speaking. The raven brothers live in a crystal castle as men during the night, and fly through the world like ravens during the day.

We decided to depict this change, together with the changing seasons in our works:

- Spring
- Summer
- Autumn ( this one, drawn by pencil and colored in Photoshop
- Winter

I wanted something sad.. Scene just after brothers are getting turned. I always tended to see it that suddenly everything turned blindingly white, like with using magic, and then, the next second, instead or men there were ravens.. This is the moment, little more symbolical, when thunder spreads through sky and brothers became ravens, already having a glimpse of how sad their life is going to be, and regretting.. I wished I had much more time of details, but I hope this will work it out along with other beautiful works of my three teammates
